George Rodrigue

1944-2013

Artist George Rodrigue was born in 1944 in Louisiana, and created his signature style of artwork after studying at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. George Rodrigue’s paintings are defined by a sharp-edge, repetitive style, and Rodrigue’s major success came with his Blue Dog series, which was inspired by the legend of the loup-garou (werewolf) and his own dog Tiffany.

By 1990, Artist George Rodrigue was devoted to painting solely Blue Dog pictures. He remained fascinated by the effect they had, saying that they were memorable works that were about life and searching for answers. The dog is always in the same position, staring at the viewer with big yellow eyes.

George Rodrigue prints for sale, and some originals from his Blue Dog series, are readily available online and at auction. Look for the colorful influence in your life by viewing exquisite portrait paintings for sale by other renowned painters.
